Short Stays at the Quinta
I enjoy welcoming “Quinta Friends” into my home for short stays, usually for one or two nights between Monday and Wednesday (as I work the other days).
Most people who find their way here are curious about one or more of the things that shape life on the farm: nature, natural wine, naturism, food, community, sustainability, or simply a more connected way of living.
A stay here is about sharing everyday life for a day or two. There is no programme, no set itinerary, and no pressure to do anything in particular (but you are usually very welcome to join whatever is going on at that time).
What a stay feels like
Every stay is different. One day might involve a walk through the hills, a visit to the vineyard, harvesting vegetables for dinner, a swim in a river pool, and definitely always opening a bottle of wine at some stage.
Or, as you don’t have to spend your time here with me all the time, you can spend time reading in the shade, exploring the area, helping yourself to tomatoes from the garden, or simply enjoying some quiet time.
Sometimes friends or neighbours drop by for lunch, dinner, or a glass of wine. Sometimes it’s just the two of us.
Wine, nature and naturism
Wine is very much part of life here. I run the São Mamede Wine Project nearby, and so conversations often drift towards vineyards, winemaking, food, and bottles worth sharing.
We are also surrounded by nature: Forests, streams, wildlife, olive groves, vegetable gardens, mountain views, and endless opportunities to walk, explore, and enjoy being outdoors.
The farm is also a body-positive, clothing-optional space. You can spend much of your stay naked, or not. There is no expectation either way. The atmosphere is relaxed, respectful, and comfortable.
Staying here
The farmhouse is comfortable and still evolving. This is a real home and a working farm, shared with three dogs, a cat… so there is generally some movement.
You can stay in a simple private room overlooking the olive grove, or bring a tent and choose a corner of the land for yourself.
Shared meals are often part of the experience and are vegetarian, sometimes featuring ingredients from the garden, the land etc…
The contribution
The “price” of a short stay is simple: a good bottle of wine that we can enjoy together. Natural wines are especially welcome, but anything interesting, local, or meaningful is appreciated.
Interested?
If this sounds like your kind of place, get in touch and tell me a little about yourself.
What brings you to this corner of the world?
What are you curious about?
And what bottle are you bringing?
Before confirming a stay, I usually like to arrange a quick call so we can get to know each other, ask any questions, and make sure everyone feels comfortable.
