From January\, the Permaculture Pod will be hosting a monthly queer* permies get together online. \nTogether\, we will delve into one permaculture principle each month and explore how we can bring it to life and what it means to us. \n9 January: Observe and interact. \n13 February: Catch and store energy. \n13 March: Obtain a yield. \n10 April: Apply self-regulation and accept feedback. \n8 May: Use and value renewable resources and services. \n12 June: Produce no waste. \n10 July: Design from patterns to details. \n14 August: Integrate rather than segregate. \n11 September: Use small and slow solutions. \n9 October: Use and value diversity. \n13 November: Use edges and value the marginal. \n11 December: Creatively use and respond to change. \nAll events start at 6:00pm (Portuguese time). The meetings will be online via Zoom and are free to attend. \nThe intention is to create a space where we can explore the many aspects of permaculture by sharing our experiences and asking questions. DESCRIPTION:Autumn is the season of true abundance. Join us to celebrate this time of plenty on the Quinta! \nExperience community and enjoy the gifts of nature as we celebrate with our first theme week\, dedicated to harvesting and preserving food grown on the Quinta or produced locally. \nWorking together\, we will pickle\, ferment\, can\, cook\, dry\, and juice produce from the land. We may even try to make wine! Beyond preserving the food\, we invite you to explore with us the local (vegetarian) food scene. Try local delicacies\, and create imaginative dishes for the community from seasonal fruit and vegetables. \nEvery day\, we will have activities which will help us to connect to the land and the produce\, and to grow as a community. We will also offer off-site visits\, including trips to local markets and producers. All the delicious vegetarian or vegan food during the week will be shared as we come together to enjoy each other’s company and savour the fruits of our labour. To end the week\, we will have a closing celebration\, where we will invite local friends and neighbours to join us. \nAccommodation during the week will be in shared double rooms and/or a shared sleeping space at Community House. Alternatively\, you are invited to bring a tent to sleep on the land. For more information about accommodation and daily life at the Quinta\, click here. \nTo join the week\, please attend the online welcome meeting on 21 July at 5pm (details and registration here).\nIf you can’t attend\, please book a slot here to have a chat about the week. \nPlease note: the number of participants is limited to 10. DESCRIPTION:Co-hosted by the Quinta project\, join Q4JC as we explore why climate justice + international solidarity are important for queer / LGBT+ people. \nQueers for Climate Justice was started on Climate Justice Day November 6th 2021. The aim is to provide a space for queer / LGBT+ people to explore more about environmental issues in the context of international solidarity.  This first the event\, will have two presentations \n“Queer Pedagogy for Climate Justice” \nDr Kieran Higgins is a Lecturer (Education) in Sustainable Development at Queen’s University Belfast. An environmental psychologist by discipline\, Kieran’s work currently focuses on how best to teach competencies in leadership and education for sustainable development. \n“Youth Climate Activism in Malaysia” \nAidil Iman Aidid has been mobilising environmental advocacy for four years\, mainly through social media engagement on platforms like Twitter and Instagram. His specific interests lie in biodiversity protection\, covering areas of wildlife trafficking\, ecosystem governance and the call for nature-based solutions. Aidil was a communications campaigner at MyHutan\, a movement powered by Undi18 that focuses on institutionalising forest conservation in Malaysia and currently does media work at Malaysian Youth Delegation (MYD)\, a youth civil society that engages in local climate change literacy and policymaking. He is also the founder of Kolektif Iklim\, a youth-led environmental movement focused on strengthening the synergies between climate action and biodiversity protection in Malaysia. DESCRIPTION:This event is in co-operation with the LGBTQ+ Expats\, Immigrants and Friends in Portugal group. \nJoin us at our first LGBTQ+ Expats\, Immigrants and Friends Networking & Party event! This will be an opportunity to get to know your fellow group members – no matter where they are located in the country\,… or indeed in the world! During the first hour\, we will be getting to know other group members “face to face” by having some small activities and interactions with each other – followed by a dance party. \nWhat to expect: \n21:00 Meet your fellow group members \nThe first part of the evening is a face-paced event\, where the aim is to meet as many of the participants as possible. Games\, group and individual “missions” and little tasks help connect to fellow group members and establish connections and meet your group friends. Most of these activities are in small groups of 2/3 people\, making it easy to connect to others! \napprox 22:00 Dance & Chat Party \nDJ Lazuli will be playing dance tunes in the main room. There will be spotlighting and lots of interaction throughout the night.\nYou can just listen to the music or dance along! \nIf you prefer to continue to talk or chill out with other group members\, breakout rooms will be available to have a conversation (without the music). \nTotal Time: \n60 Minutes Networking event\nOpen-End: Dance Party\nYou can join\, leave and/or rejoin at any time during the event \nAll group members (and their friends) are welcome to attend the event.\nThe event is free of charge. \nThe party will be on zoom.
